What’s new
Introducing assumptions on LCA blocks, a new feature that lets you document, discuss, and resolve the hypotheses behind each block in your Life Cycle Assessment scenarios. Every node on the canvas (materials, processes, transport, distribution, product use, and end of life) now has a dedicated button for managing its assumptions.
Clicking the assumption button on any block opens a side panel where you can create, edit, or delete an assumption. Each assumption also includes a threaded comment section where team members can discuss, provide context, and mention other users to request their input.
How it works
- Navigate to any LCA scenario and find the block you want to document an assumption for
- Click the assumption icon on the block to open the side panel
- Create a new assumption describing the hypothesis that supports the block’s data
- Use the comment thread to discuss the assumption with your team, with the ability to mention other users
- Mark comments as resolved once a consensus has been reached
- The block button displays a badge with the number of pending comments, so you always have visibility into the status of each assumption
Why it matters
In a Life Cycle Assessment, assumptions are a fundamental part of the process. Deciding which values to use for a material, which transport scenario to consider, or what recycling percentage to assume at end of life requires justification and consensus among team members.
Until now, these decisions were documented outside the platform, scattered across emails, spreadsheets, or shared documents, making them hard to trace. With this new feature, all discussion and assumption documentation is centralized directly on the corresponding block. This improves analysis transparency, simplifies audits, and ensures that any team member can understand the decisions made at each stage of the life cycle.
